The Comfort Book by Matt Haig is little gem of a book that is absolutely perfect if you need, well, a little bit of comfort.
The book is described as “a collection of consolations learned in hard times for making the bad days better” and that is exactly what it is. It is full of small meditations, short stories, notes, quotations and more that make you feel better about life and better about yourself. You can read it in any order and I would say it is best kept right next to your bed so you can end your day on a comforting note.
Haig is open about having suffered from suicidal depression and he’s experienced how the passage of time can change things and give perspective. What he shares here are some meaningful lessons he’s learned through the hard times. I thoroughly recommend this book, even if you’re not going through hard times…it’s just beautiful.
